Heather Rose
Heather Rose is an author of two novels – White Heart and The Butterfly Man. The Butterfly Man was shortlisted for the Nita B Kibble Award and won the 2006 Davitt Award for the Crime Fiction Novel of the Year. It was also longlisted for the 2007 IMPAC Awards in Ireland.
Heather’s first writing job at age 16 was as a columnist on windsurfing for the Tasmanian newspaper The Mercury. Leaving Tasmania at age 18 Heather travelled in Europe and Asia and then finally settled in Melbourne where she began a career as a copywriter in advertising working on everything from hardware catalogues to high profile television campaigns. Heather returned to Tasmania in 1996 where she began her first novel White Heart. Heather continues to live in Hobart with her husband, musician Rowan Smith, and their three children – Alex, Byron and Isabelle.
In the recent Angus and Roberston Top 100 Poll The Butterfly Man was voted at number 6 by Tasmanians as their all-time favourite novel.
